New Lanark is surrounded by native woodlands and closely situated to the Falls of Clyde. The village of New Lanark was founded in 1785 as a cotton spinning village and became famous as the site of Robert Owen's pioneering social reforms.
After restoration the village is now a world class tourist attraction and has its own village community. New Lanark Mill Hotel itself is an award winning conversion from an 18th century mill with the New Lanark Visitor Centre only a short walk away.
