Situated in 8 acres in the heart of the scenic Clyde Valley, the picturesque Popinjay Hotel takes its name from a mystical bird connected to traditional May Day celebrations and that is also described in Sir Walter Scott's famous book 'Old Mortality'
Built in 1882 in Tudor design, The Popinjay is on the A72 Hamilton - Lanark road, only 4 miles off the M74 and twenty minutes from Glasgow and forty from Edinburgh by car.
Perfectly suited for both business and leisure stays, the hotel sits in private grounds with beautiful picturesque gardens that reach down to the banks of the famous River Clyde, where the Popinjay enjoys fishing rights.
