Lanark Museum houses a collection of items which illustrate the ancient and varied history of the town. Lanark is one of Scotland's oldest burghs, and from the time of King William the Lion was a favoured hunting area of the Kings of Scotland. Lanark also has associations with two of Scotland's greatest heroes: William Wallace and King Robert the Bruce.
Lanark Museum, through its annual exhibtions, tells the story of Lanark people at work and at leisure.
Admission to the museum is free.
Whilst in Lanark, why not visit the nearby World Heritage Site of New Lanark and visit the Visitor Centre where the whole family can explore all the award-winning attractions in the historic village. A must family day out!
You can also enjoy a gentle riverside walk and see the spectacular Corra Linn waterfall at the Falls of Clyde wildlife Reserve.
