Walking and Bird-Watching at Dumbreck Marsh
The Marsh is an open area of countryside, including ponds and large areas of grassland.
What was once a derelict industrial area is now a vibrant wildlife and visitor attraction.
Dumbreck Marsh is an ideal place for a gentle walk or for wildlife watching. In the past it was covered with coke and coal waste and crossed with mineral railways lines.
It is now home to grassland birds, including lapwing and skylarks, and the Water rail.
The marsh is located near to the Colzium Estate and the Antonine Wall, both also in North Lanarkshire.
Whilst in Kilysth, why not visit Auchinstarry Marina and hire bikes or a kayak at Outdoor Trax for a great family day out.
