Situated bewteen the historic mining towns of Kilsyth and Croy on the Forth & Clyde Canal is British Waterways Scotland's new flagship destination, Auchinstarry Marina.
Great Location, Great Food, Fantastic Day Out at Auchinstarry Marina
Onsite you will find The Boathouse pub hotel, Scotland's first eco pub. There is also the opportunity to take a wander through the scents and sensitivities garden whilst viewing the new stone sculpture.
The Forth & Clyde Canal Society also operate barges for hire along the canal.
A recent addition to the Auchinstarry site is Outdoor Trax, where you can hire mountain bikes, canoes and kayaks. Why not take a relaxing (or energetic) cycle along the canal footpaths, or take to the water and get up close to the wildlife?
There is an area of picnic benches and bins adjacent to the water for those glorious summer day picnics.
Also on site is a 50 berth marina with long and short term moorings and if you fancy setting sail along the canals why not sign up for inland waterways training with Seaskills.
Auchnstarry is the ideal base for strolls along the canal, walks to the Antonine Wall World Heritage Site, Dumbreck Marsh site of special scientific interest, and for the more experienced rock climbing and abseiling within the quarry.
