New Lanark World Heritage Site continues winning streak

New Lanark World Heritage site has been recognised at the 2017 Lanarkshire Business Excellence Awards for its role in growing and supporting Lanarkshire’s tourism sector.

The UNESCO World Heritage walked away with the John Brinkins Award for Excellence in Tourism, sponsored by VisitLanarkshire.

Judges were impressed with various features, including the visitor centre, Mill Café, and the production of New Lanark Ice Cream and New Lanark Textiles.

As one of the area’s most popular attractions New Lanark has been instrumental in driving visitor numbers and ensuring that Lanarkshire remains a must-visit destination. The team were also praised for their excellent customer service, a part of the site’s charm that brings in repeat visits from tourists.

The attraction’s success at the Lanarkshire Business Awards comes just weeks after the staff at the New Lanark Mill Hotel were awarded ‘Front of House Team of the Year’ at the inaugural Prestige Hotel Awards.
