Summerlee Model Weekend - 15 & 16 September

Summerlee - the museum of Scottish industrial life in Coatbridge - is to host a two-day model show over the weekend of 15 and 16 September.

Organised in association with Scottish Federation of Model Boat Clubs (SFMBC), the event will have over 40 stalls and displays within the main exhibition hall, plus (weather permitting) outdoor displays of model boats in action on the Summerlee canal.

Amongst the displays will be a stall featuring 'The Fantastical World of Film and Television' with posters, dolls, puppets and action figures from over 80 years of Hollywood and TV films. Children will be able to play with a selection of remote-controlled toys and plug-n-play TV games.

SFMBC organiser John McAllister said: "Although our club focuses on boats, we will be having lots of other model types, including cars, aircraft and railways at the show. We are always looking to attract younger members, and if they join our club they will not only have great fun, they will also learn woodwork and electronic skills".

Summerlee manager Laura Eales commented: "Our model show has always been a magnet for modellers and collectors alike. Our new exhibition hall is an ideal indoor venue for our exhibitors and visitors. A lot of work has been put in by the SFMBC in pulling the event together, with trade stalls as well as tables available for private modellers on a 'Bring and Buy' basis. So there will be plenty of interest for both the serious collector and families looking for a day out with a difference".

Gates open at 10am both days and admission is free.
