The play follows the exploits of a class of Catholic school girls at the Convent of Our Lady of Fatima, who discover another world outside the convent gates in a classic, rites-of-passage comedy in Once A Catholic. The girls encounter nuns, boys and Father Mullarkey and cope with confused sermons about limbo, unforgiving sex education lessons and the temptations of Elvis Presley.
A most telling and funny piece of theatre, Once a Catholic casts a caustic eye on the young girls' growing awareness to the world and their own sexuality. In an environment where only Hell and Damnation await sinful thoughts, it's teen spirit versus the nuns.
