Award winning Holiday Inn Express in Hamilton has added another accolade to its mantel piece last week when it won a prestigious Lanarkshire Business Excellence Award.

Hosted by comedian Fred MacAulay, more than 300 of Lanarkshire’s top businesses attended the awards event at the Shawlands Park Hotel. Aimed at all businesses which operate in the area, the awards offer Lanarkshire businesses the opportunity to promote and celebrate success.

Beating off local competition from the MacDonald Crutherland House Hotel and Scotland’s top theme park - M&Ds, the Holiday Inn swept off with the Lanarkshire Tourism Excellence Award.

Presented by Anne Peters from the Crowwood Hotel and Halo Hotels Group, Mark Calpin, General Manager of the Holiday Inn Express, Hamilton was delighted to receive the award on behalf of his team at the awards dinner at the. He said:

“It means a great deal to me to be able to collect this award for our team. We pride ourselves in being able to offer not just a great place to stay but also to work. We have worked hard in developing strong relationships with other tourism organisations to ensure that our guests have access to the best information about what is going on in our area. Our staff are dedicated to ensuring customer satisfaction by exceeding customer expectations.”

Sponsored by the Lanarkshire Area Tourism Partnership, Stephen Balfour of VisitLanarkshire helped judge the candidates. He commented:
“As ever, the quality of the award entries was high and congratulations go to all of the finalists. This year we were looking for a tourism business which demonstrated that they have successfully developed innovative ways of expanding their offering, or have developed innovative ways of working with customers or other tourism businesses to increase performance.

“We agreed that the Holiday Inn Express demonstrated a high degree of creativity and dynamism in how they enhanced and maximised their own offering in Lanarkshire. They have shown a commitment to growth and success and a high level of involvement in their staff.”

The Area Tourism Partnership were delighted that the Lanarkshire tourism sector recorded another winner on the evening when M&Ds won the aware for Business Growth through Marketing & Sales.
