Scotland’s flagship business to business event for the travel trade, VisitScotland Expo, recently provided an excellent opportunity for the Lanarkshire Tourism Marketing Partnership (LTMP) to showcase the area’s tourism offering.

The team behind the partnership body from both North and South Lanarkshire Council attended the VisitScotland Expo, staged recently in Glasgow’s SECC centre. They answered over 300 enquiries during the two day event, which attracted a global audience.

Assisted by over ten local businesses including the Hilton Strathclyde, Shawlands Parks Hotel and the Westerwood Hotel, the LTMP team had the perfect opportunity to showcase what Lanarkshire has to offer as a visitor destination and also highlight the area’s tourism portal www.visitlanarkshire.com to potential buyers from across the world.

Now in its 31st year the VisitScotland Expo is open to buyers from all sectors of the industry including coach tour operators, group travel organisers, conference buyers and travel agents who come from Europe, USA, Japan, Australia, and the UK every year.

John Brinkins, from Lanarkshire Tourism Marketing Partnership said:
“The VisitScotland Expo provides a great platform to help showcase the businesses which are keeping Lanarkshire at the forefront of Scotland’s tourism industry. As well as gaining leads to help bolster business, it allows us to share ideas with others in our sector to help improve how we deliver our own services and enhance business contacts not only in Scotland but worldwide.”
