Two Lanarkshire businesses have received ‘Gold Star’ status under VisitScotland’s Quality Assurance scheme which has expanded to include B&Bs and Guest Houses.

Skirling House in Skirling near Biggar, and Craigpark House B&B in Airdrie are amongst the first 40 B&Bs and Guest Houses in Scotland to be awarded Gold Stars by the area’s official tourism organisation in recognition of their exceptional hospitality and service.

The coveted Gold Star accolade was launched by VisitScotland to highlight establishments within the Quality Assurance scheme who have gone the extra mile to exceed customer expectations.

Mark Calpin, chair of Lanarkshire Area Tourism Partnership said: “This is a great achievement for both Skirling House and Craigpark House and I would like to extend my congratulations to both. Lanarkshire is fast becoming a popular destination for those looking for a short weekend break away and also for those looking to stay longer, so it is vital that we can provide them with a pleasant environment to rest and unwind.”

Isobel Hunter from Skirling House said: “This is a huge achievement and we are delighted to receive such a prestigious award. To be one of the first 40 in Scotland to receive the Gold Star status is a huge honor and I hope that our guests enjoy their stay when they come to spend time in Lanarkshire and their night in Skirling House.”
