To help raise vital funds for Maggie’s Lanarkshire the Abington Hotel have joined Maggie’s Pudding Club and are hosting a Mother’s Day Cake Competition. The winning cakes will appear on the Mother’s Day Menu.
The competition will take place at the Abington Hotel on Saturday, 6th March from 1pm until 3pm. There will a judging panel to decide the winner of the competition but other people coming along to the event will be able to sample the cakes for a donation.
Susan MacBride from Abington Hotel said, “We’re really excited about the cake competition and very much looking forward to finding out which cake will join our Mother’s Day menu. We would love to hear from you if you would like to get involved. On the day there will be cup cake decorating workshop for children and people can have the chance to sample the cakes entered into the competition. We’re delighted to be supporting Maggie’s through the cake competition.”
The competition has two categories one for those under 18 years of age and the second for those over 18 years. Registration costs £5 for adults and £3 for those under 18 years of age.
Maggie’s Lanarkshire is a homely and welcoming place where people affected by cancer can receive the emotional and psychological support they need. People can take part in a group or speak to a cancer support specialist or clinical psychologist or simply pause and rest.
Community Fundraiser for Maggie’s Lanarkshire, Julie Burns, said: “It means a great deal to us all that The Abington Hotel are holding a cake competition as part of Maggie’s Pudding Club. The vital funds raised at the competition will make a significant difference to the lives of those people affected by cancer in Lanarkshire.”
