Nova International, organisers of the Great Scottish Swim, has been advised today by the Event Safety Group that the event, which was due to be staged on Saturday August 21 at Strathclyde Loch has been cancelled because of the prevalence of blue- green algae. This decision has been taken in the interests of safety of swimmers after further stringent water quality checks were completed by The Scottish Environment Protection Agency.
The organisors intend to run the event in 2011.
All entrants will have the option of deferring their entry until 2011. The process will be advised in a direct communication to all participants.
The organisors apologise to anybody who will be inconvenienced by the postponement, but the safety of participants and the event safety team are our number one priority at all times.
The organisors Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
