Covington House

Angela & Angus welcome you to their lovely Historic Scottish House and Gardens, by Tinto Hill and within easy reach of Edinburgh & Glasgow. Ten acres of gardens to relax and explore in.

THE LINDSAY SUITE:

The private wing is perfect for two people and includes a double bedroom that be either Twin or SuperKing (please request which in advance), a private sitting room, a well fitted bathroom, with over-bath shower, and a separate W/C.

The space
PRIVATE WING:
The Bedroom, Sitting Room, Bathroom and separate WC are all within a private wing of the house. Guests will have the entire wing, which has a lockable door from the rest of house. The sitting room includes a Mac computer and 34 inch monitor, for internet access and TV streaming.

WEDDING PLANS?
The property is lose to the Wedding Venues at Shieldhill Castle and Cornhill Castle, so if you are looking for a pleasant place for the Bride the night before and perhaps photographs in our gardens just ask... (a second bedroom may be made available for the Brides mother!).

HISTORIC HOUSE:
The house is Listed and part of an important early Scottish settlement dating back to the 11th Century. The wing is named after the Lindsay family who built and owned the Castle Tower to the North of the house (now a ruin).

Guests will have access to ten acres of grounds and gardens, including a Georgian walled garden, terraces and several areas to sit and relax. The Glebe is a wildflower meadow with some wooded copses to enjoy.

The house dates we think to at least the 17th century, most is 18th century, the wing is generally in a good state of repair and the Bathroom, although decorated in a vintage manner has a full mains pressure shower and cast iron bath . We hope most of the amenities you might need are included. If something is missing...please do ask.

CYCLISTS AND WALKERS:
This is a great place to stay for cyclists and we are close to the start of the Tweed Cycleway. Walking on Tinto Hill and in the Scottish Borders is close by. We have a secure store that bikes can be locked in.

Your hosts Angus & Angela will gladly assist with travel plans and suggestions for local places to visit or eat.
Guest access
The house has a large private parking area. We will be able to provide EV charging where necessary (a small fee may apply). The EV point is currently being installed and should be ready by the end of July 2021.

We are close to both Lanark and Carstairs Junction rail stations. It is approximately 35 minutes to Edinburgh and Glasgow by train. Both the main airports can be driven to in under an hour. The nearest small town is Biggar, a charming compact town, which has many small independent shops and restaurants.
Other things to note
Covington is a peaceful and rural location. The owners have two friendly and energetic Springer Spaniels. They love visitors and are not aggressive. They are not 'barky' dogs but may announce your arrival :) We also have hens, ducks and a cockerel in our grounds. 

IMPORTANT: The home has a strict NO SMOKING policy in the house. The owners reserve the right to charge a £100 deep cleaning fee should anyone smoke within the house. This includes vaping.
