The New Farmhouse

The New Farmhouse offers self-catering accommodation and is set within its own private grounds within the land of a working farm. The excellent views, surrounding countryside walks and peaceful setting, make this self-catering lodge perfect for families or a romantic break away.

Things to See and Do 

Nearby are routes for mountain biking, cycling and walking in the South Lanarkshire hills, as well as quick road access to Edinburgh and Glasgow. Nearby attractions are the beautiful royal burgh of Lanark as well as the UNESCO World Heritage site at New Lanark with its spectacularly preserved 18th century village.


The New Farmhouse itself provides a cosy haven if the weather deters you form venturing out. The living room includes a wood burning stove, with coal and wood supplied. The New Farmhouse also has a selection of CD's, DVD's, books and games to choose from. The utility room houses the lodge's washer/drier, coat hooks etc, with plenty of space for muddy boots. The dining room and kitchen are open plan with double oven, microwave, fridge-freezer. There are three bedrooms, two of which are twins and a master king-size double bedroom with spectacular views and ensuite.

Perfect for a self catering short break in Scotland

The lodge stands at the edge of our extensive farmland. Surrounded by peaceful fields and wonderful views, which stretch across to Tinto hill to the west and south to Broughton. Our farm steading lies at the other side of Wood hill about 1 mile by road.

By road:

From the South, exit at junction 13 of the M74 for A702 Edinburgh/Lanark then at roundabout take 2nd exit for Biggar A702. Once through Biggar take right for Peebles/Skirling on A72. The New Farmhouse is prominently situated to the rear of the developed Skirling Mill farm steading about ¾ of a mile on the left towards the end of the straight.  Take third left into the development and follow the road to the back.
From the North, from the Edinburgh City bypass take the A702 Carlisle then take left just before Biggar on to the A72 and follow directions as above.

By bus:

There are buses to Biggar from Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dumfries.

By train:

Train stations are located at Lanark and Carstairs see the First Group website for timetables and fares.

By air:
