Lanarkshire gets a new luxury venue
Lanarkshire has added a new luxury five-star hotel to its wide range of accommodation. Crossbasket Castle in Blantyre was rescued from ruin in 2011 by a local businessman and his wife. Through a £9million investment the couple have saved the property and restored it to its former glory.
Through the use of traditional craftsmanship and materials, including gold leaf finishings, the stunning 17th century building retains the feel and opulence of the time. In keeping with such grandeur, the hotel was officially opened by Scottish Ballet, who performed sections of the famous Swan Lake ballet in front of the castle and inside the Grand Ballroom.
The hotel will feature a new restaurant from renowned chefs Albert Roux OBE, KFO and his son Michel Roux Jnr, which will be the first time the duo have collaborated in Scotland
A short drive from Glasgow city centre, Crossbasket Castle is located at the heart of rural Scotland, making it both a practical and beautiful location for corporate events. With a total of six meeting and events rooms the venue can cater for between 12 and 350 delegates.
Alison Reid-Timoney said: “We have poured our hearts and souls into the restoration of Crossbasket Castle. It has been a real journey, as have the Scottish Ballet with their new show. It’s the first time the company has performed Swan Lake in over 20 years and we were so pleased they shared a glimpse of this with us, they really helped capture the magic of the castle and make the opening special for us.”
“As locals, we have loved seeing the castle’s transformation over the past five years and we are very excited to now be able to share it with the community. We hope to attract visitors from far and wide to share the castles fairy-tale with them.”
