Lanarkshire man becomes luxury venue's first ever first footer
A local Lanarkshire man has won a nationwide search to become the first footer of Crossbasket Castle.
Dominic Murray from Blantyre, fended off hundreds of applicants to be crowned winner. As part of his role, Dominic attended the venue’s inaugural Hogmanay celebration and was the ceremonial first footing at the castle.
Mark Lambson, General Manager of the hotel said: “We had fantastic entries for the competition from all over Scotland, but it is very fitting that Dominic won – he grew up on the castle’s doorstep and he is the perfect person to help bring new luck to the hotel and our guests for 2017.”
Dominic also won a year’s modelling contract with All Talent Agency.
Sonia Scott, owner of All Talent Agency added: “We were thrilled to be involved with the search and after meeting Dominic we felt he really embodied the essence of the first-footing tradition with his warm personality.”
The five star Crossbasket Castle opened in the summer of 2016 following a five-year £9 million restoration process. The hotel features a restaurant from renowned chefs Albert Roux and his son Michel Roux Jnr, and boasts six meeting and events rooms that can cater for up to 350 delegates.
