Team building in Lanarkshire

Sometimes, the difference between a good team and a great team can lie in taking time away from the day job to understand and consider a company's objectives and where everyone fits in. Team building activities are specifically designed to encourage key skills within a team, from motivation to collaboration, communication to trust. These days, there is much more to team building activities. You can attempt to break a world record, help care for a local historical landmark, or try your hand at creating a culinary masterpiece. Set in an ideal landscape away from the office space, Lanarkshire is home to a range of attractions and facilities with a wealth of team building activities set to test skills and encourage better team relations.

Some away days can offer a real competitive edge, encouraging a bit of healthy rivalry and motivation. The Le-Mans Style Team Challenge at ScotKart Indoor Racing Track in Cambuslang is ideal for this, inspiring teamwork, strategy and communication to beat fellow workmates. Teams of two, three and four drivers compete in a 60, 90 or 120 minute races.

Glasgow-based building surveyors, Mackinnon & Co. visited ScotKart earlier this year for a multi-activity package, including lunch, karting and laser tag for around 30 participants. Rave reviews came back from across the company with comments such as "It really was one of the best 'work afternoons' that I have had." Company director, Charles D MacKinnon said: "For a corporate afternoon, with a bunch of competitive, young to middle aged guys and girls, ScotKart has one of the best offerings around."

For a more unusual team building day, the David Livingstone Centre in Blantyre offers the 'Corporate Challenge' from The National Trust for Scotland. The 'Corporate Challenge' invites companies to learn more about the work of the Centre by really getting involved with the work, assisting with upcoming family events both inside and outside the centre. A series of activities throughout the day, encourages participants to give something back to the local community, leaving teams with a real sense of achievement. A team from Scottish Water did this to good effect by painting newly refurbished areas of the building and working together outdoors in the gardens.

With a unique mix of venues and activities available, and excellent transport links to Edinburgh, Glasgow and the rest of the UK, Lanarkshire is the ideal place to find something a bit different to bring teams together. Why not get out of the office and get inspired!
