The Elphinstone Hotel awarded top tourism award

The Elphinstone Hotel in Biggar, has been crowned a winner at this year’s Lanarkshire Business Excellence Award. The traditional country inn walked away with the John Brinkins Award for Excellence in Tourism which was sponsored by our partner website BeLanarkshire.


The glitzy award ceremony, held at the Radstone Hotel, saw more than 400 people come together to celebrate the entrepreneurial spirit of the region. TV personality Kaye Adam was host for the evening, while local music group SoundSational performed and comedian Des Clarke provided entertainment before the winners were unveiled. There were ten categories which attracted 150 entries covering a diverse range of businesses of all types and sizes.


The John Brinkins Award is aimed at those who demonstrate that they are contributing to the success of Lanarkshire’s tourism industry.


The Elphinstone Hotel is a modest and charming Inn located in the beautiful Scottish countryside and was recognised for its commitment to staff development and enthusiasm in customer service.  It has 11 bedrooms, restaurant and function suite which can cater for up to 90 guests.

The Elphinstone Hotel was competing against two other shortlisted finalists in this category, the four star Westerwood Hotel & Golf Resort and North Lanarkshire Heritage Centre
