This allows visitors with additional access requirements to review the venue before travelling.
From walking routes to swimming pools, country parks to soft play centres, everyone can have a great time in Lanarkshire. We’ve pulled together some of our favourite places to explore below.
Entertain the kids in a prehistoric world. Dinom8 is a primeval-themed soft play centre in Airdrie, with erupting volcanoes and roaring dinosaurs, keeping your little monsters amused for hours. With a café for parents and grandparents to relax and have a coffee and a snack, it’s a great day out for the whole family.
The venue car park is free for customers, with ample space for blue badge holders. The café, which serves both hot and cold snacks including wraps, salads and cakes, is on the ground floor, ideal for families with buggies or additional needs. There are also baby changing facilities on site.
With an abundance of beautiful scenery, Lanarkshire’s walking routes are a great way to explore the area. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or the smallest of trekkers, there are plenty of pathways to suit everyone.
For an easy-going stroll, head to four-star visitor attraction Strathclyde Country Park, where you’ll find a flat path around Strathclyde Loch. Ideal for families with older relatives, a large part of the route is tarmacked. Don’t forget to pack a picnic – there are plenty of benches around the loch for you to set up camp and enjoy a sandwich and sausage roll.
If you’re looking for something a little more challenging, try Tinto Hill, a 707-metre climb. Suitable for the more active of hikers, Tinto offers one of the best views in Lanarkshire.
Known for its striking architecture and full 50m pool, a trip to Dollan Aqua Centre in East Kilbride is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. With sauna and steam rooms, a state-of-the-art fitness gym and dance studio, Dollan is home to some of Lanarkshire’s premier leisure facilities.
The changing facilities are equipped with both disabled and family booths, ideal for those who require additional space. If you’re not quite up for taking a dip, spend your afternoon in the café, where you can enjoy freshly-made baked potatoes, wraps and salads.
