Hear Elton John sing Your Song in Lanarkshire
International superstar Sir Elton John will be stopping off in Lanarkshire as part of his Wonderful Crazy Night tour.
The gig, which will take place on Saturday 24 June 2017, is to be held at the Excelsior Stadium in Airdrie, North Lanarkshire. Usually, home to the football club Airdrie FC, the stadium is capable of welcoming up to 10,000 fans, who are certain to turn out in full to see the singer perform songs from his newest studio album, as well as a number of his greatest hits.
This will be the pop icon's 54th gig in Scotland and his first ever in Lanarkshire. The show is part of a four-date UK tour which includes performances in Derby, Birmingham and Leeds.
Excelsior Stadium owner Paul Hetherington and Tom Wotherspoon, owner of Airdrieonians FC, said in joint statement: “This is a major coup for the club, stadium, town and surrounding areas. To have secured Airdrie FC’s ground as the only Scottish venue of Sir Elton John’s 2017 UK tour is something we should all take pride in.
“That a truly global superstar has chosen to come here can only benefit the club, stadium and local economy as fans of Elton’s from far and wide will descend on our town and our stadium. This will be a night to remember for all of us. Indeed, a wonderful, crazy night in our town.”
Tickets for the show start from £40 and are available from Ticketmaster.
