The Time Capsule makes a splash with VisitScotland
Lanarkshire’s premier leisure facility, the Time Capsule has made a splash with VisitScotland officials as it has been awarded four-star visitor attraction status.
The Coatbridge sports centre, which is currently marking its 25th anniversary year, has recently enjoyed a £4.4 million investment. The upgrade was completed in March 2016 and saw improvements made to the waterpark's flume stairway, platform, internal columns and walkways.
The onsite ice rink and gym have also benefited from the revamp.
The quality advisors from VisitScotland who inspected the Time Capsule praised its variety of activities, customer service, cleanliness and café. It currently attracts around 70,000 visitors per year making it one of Lanarkshire’s most popular attractions.
Emma Walker, who is managing director of centre operators at North Lanarkshire Leisure (NLL), said: "VisitScotland recognition is the benchmark for visitor attractions. The Time Capsule is an incredibly popular venue for people of all ages and offers a great range of activities for people to enjoy.
"We're delighted to achieve this high grading and hope our many thousands of visitors continue to enjoy our swimming, ice skating and fitness facilities."
NLL chair Councillor Barry McCulloch added: "Congratulations to all the staff on their efforts in securing this award.
"We want to encourage people to come and visit our attractions, with the associated economic benefits; and we will continue to develop the facilities we offer."
