Join John Nicholson a popular, well-loved novelist, known primarily for his Nick Guymer novels for a series of creative writing workshops. Whether you are just getting started or you want to pursue writing as a career these intimate workshops will be sure to help inspire you to take the next step. How to Write to Make a Living Is it realistic? How many writers do it for a living? What does ‘successful’ mean? What level of sales can you expect? How much money do you need to make to pay your bills? How many books do you need to sell to earn that amount? Publish or self-publish: pros and cons. Freelance writing to supplement book sales. Attitudes needed to survive. (John has kindly agreed to donate all proceeds from this workshop to the Burgh Hall.)

CERAMICS SESSION FULLY BOOKED BUT PLEASE FEEL FREE TO POP IN FOR A CUPPA AND A BLETHER!
Relax and unwind with colourful ribbon and fabric. Create unique, quick & easy everlasting spring flowers then add a few drops of fragrance with your choice of pure essential oils. This is an ideal opportunity to ‘have a go’ at getting creative with textiles with an experienced local artist. Immerse yourself in colours and scents and create something totally unique in the process. Complimentary tea, coffee and homemade scones will be served throughout the session.
This session must be booked in advance as places are limited.
Creative Blethers are all-inclusive creative experiences for the elderly, carers, and adults with disabilities or mental health concerns. Join us to enjoy a relaxing activity or just pop in on a Tuesday afternoon between 2pm and 4pm for a cuppa and a blether. Creative Blethers are free, but donations are very welcome. Door to door, wheelchair-friendly transport is available to and from your home with our friends at Interloch Transport.

Colm was a loved member of staff here at the Hall for over 10 years. He was our exhibition technician, and he curated a range of exhibitions over this period ranging from local arts groups to Tate, National Galleries of Scotland and single shows by British artists including Martin Parr and Barbara Rae. He sadly died in a tragic accident in 2022 and we want to commemorate his legacy by showcasing his drawings and sketches in our gallery. He was a skilled artist and draughtsman having studied at Glasgow School of Art in the 1970’s. While he didn’t promote his work, he was constantly sought after and sold locally and internationally. If you’ve ever wanted to own a Colm Docherty original, then there will be a range of works available to purchase. Entry to our exhibitions is free but it does cost us money to bring them to Dunoon Hall. We would appreciate any donations to help us keep providing our exhibition program in the future.
