John Hastie Museum
John Hastie Park is home to the John Hastie Museum, a popular local history museum sitting on the edge of picturesque Strathaven Park.
The John Hastie Story
John Hastie was born in Strathaven in 1828 and became a successful local businessman who owned a licensed grocery at The Cross in Strathaven.
Before he died in 1889, he provided funds for the building of a museum for the inhabitants of the town. John Hastie himself had a collection of 'antiquities' and some of them can be seen on display in the museum.
The museum also has temporary exhibitions and activities.
Admission to the museum is free.
