The 'Two Buses' Walk from Dalveen Pass to Leadhills
Take the Stagecoach 100 from Biggar, Abington or Crawford. To arrive at the start of the walk get off at Nether Fingland Farm just below Troloss at 11:30 (bus leaves Biggar 10:50).
Follow the Southern Upland Way signs NW to the radar "golf ball" on Lowther Hill. From here eithercontinue on the Southern Uplands Way to Wanlockhead orfollow the access road along the ridge to Green Lowther, then descend the NE flank to the reservoir below Mine Hill.
Follow the path to the old mine, and then the track past Leadhills Golf Course into the village.
To return take the Stuarts 30 bus at 15:25 from Wanlockhead Museum or 15:30 or 17:20 from Leadhills opposite the Hopetoun Arms. For Biggar change at Symington by either the village hall or the shop and take the Stuarts 191 into Biggar.
Note that Sunday bus timings do not fit with the walk.
Point to Note:
The timings don't work so well in reverse and there is nowhere to shelter if waiting for a bus at Fingland or Troloss, but it is possible to get an early bus which reaches Leadhills at 9:10 (leave Biggar 07:45, change at Symington) and get picked up at Fingland at 13:30, or an afternoon bus which reaches Leadhills 15:15 (leave Biggar 14:10, change at Roberton) and return from Fingland at 19:02.
