Wildlife Sanctuary and Conservation at Palacerigg

Palacerigg has been developed around the objectives of conservation, environmental education and countryside recreation.

What was once over 40 hectares of a bleak upland farm has been planted with hundreds of thousands of native trees and shrubs.

The new, sheltered environment provides a sanctuary for wildlife including thriving populations of roe deer, badger, fox and hare as well as sparrowhawk, kestrel, long-eared and short-eared owl.

Explore nature trails and places of historic interest which include evidence of fireclay mining at Glencryan and peat cutting at Gobhar.

The park has an excellent new children's play area, as well as a treetop walkway, museum and café.

Palacerigg Country Park provides plenty of fun activities for all the family to enjoy.

Entrance to the park is free.

While in Cumbernauld, why not visit Cumbernauld Outdoor Activity Centre and try one of the many great activities on offer including paintballing and 4x4 driving, or visit the Birds of Prey at Scotland's largest Birds of Prey Centre.
